Acrylic Pour Painting Program

Image

What is acrylic pour painting?

Acrylic pour painting is a fluid painting technique used to create abstract art by pouring paint onto a canvas. Artists apply color to create puddles, pools, and marbled naturally flowing patterns.

This program will involve creating an acrylic painting using a flip cup dirty pour, where all colors are added to a cup and then flipped onto a canvas.

Color Palette

Those that wish to participate in this program will need to choose colors for their painting. This palette should consist mainly of base colors. It is also recommended you add a contrast color (black or white) and metallic to your palette, however, this is entirely optional.

The painting in the image above uses three green base colors, a metallic gold, and black as a contrast color. When choosing your colors, consider:

  • Analogous Color Palette: colors that are next to each other on the color wheel. They are great "safe" colors to choose for acrylic pouring because if they end up mixing together during your pour, they won't look muddy.
  • Monochromatic Color Palette: colors that range from a pure form to a color mixed with white or black. For example: dark blue, primary blue, and light blue are a monochromatic color scheme.

The library has provided a selection of different colors for you to choose from for paintings.
